Civil Rights Elementary and Secondary Collaborative Project

As part of Alabama: Focus on Civil Rights, our group of secondary educators wanted to study Civil Rights with elementary students who were studying Alabama History. Mary Ruffin Moore of Central High School- West, Tuscaloosa and her students developed presentations/scrapbooks of Civil Rights events while Andrea Minear’s 3rd and 4th graders from Central Elementary School, Tuscaloosa studied the Civil Rights Movement in Alabama and visited Birmingham.

This project culminated in a showcase of presentations and discussions of the impact of Alabama and Alabamians on the Civil Rights Movement.
